We all practice good oral health and in general take care of our teeth, so why do we end up with bad breath? That have been a question of mine for a very long time, after all I do brush after meals and floss regularly, so what’s the deal.
Well having done a little reading on the subject I have found some very convincing answers, as Dr. Harold Kaltz research has revealed, Bad breath is caused by Anaerobic Sulfur Producing Bacteria which normally live within the surface of the tongue. These bacteria are present because they assist humans in digestion by breaking down proteins found in specific foods, mucous or phlegm, blood, and in diseased or “broken-down” oral tissue they are good bacteria under normal conditions. However, under certain conditions, these bacteria start to break down proteins at a very high rate. Two of the Amino Acids (Cysteine and Methionine) that make up proteins are dense with sulfur. When these “beneficial” bacteria come into contact with these compounds, the odorous and “lousy-tasting” sulfur compounds are released from the back of the tongue and throat, as Hydrogen Sulfide, Methyl Mercaptan as stated by Dr. Kaltz and which results in a bad taste in the mouth.
Dr. Kaltz go on to state that “these problem compounds are often referred to as volatile sulfur compounds (VSC), where volatile means Vaporous and Effervescent, two adjectives which accurately describe their ability to offend other people instantly.”
There you have it in a nutshell, so it is not that we are poor in our oral hygiene, but rather we have to learn to treat the underlying cause of the problem and since we can not smell our own breath (nature’s little trick) we will have to learn to manage this problem.
Next time we meet i’ll share some insight on how to do this.
Bad Breath isn’t very fun. I’ve used Dr. Katz formula and have found great results.
I agree with you, so what i am about to do here is to spread the news about the products that are available. I too have used it and have had good results.
